Millfield Shopping Centre, Balbriggan

Stephen Little & Associates were engaged by Parkway Partnership in 2003 as part of a project team to design and obtain planning permission for the development of a new district shopping centre for the expanding town of Balbriggan, north County Dublin.

The proposed development is located on lands adjoining the existing town centre and proximate to the new Fingal Bay Business Park, as well as several significant large scale housing developments to the west of the town. The lands are part of a larger site zoned “MC” for the development of major town centre facilities, comprising several different land ownerships.

The project team first compiled a masterplan for the overall lands, before submitting a planning application for phase 1 of the development including c.23,500m2 of floorspace, including retail, restaurants, gym and crèche amongst other uses.

A planning application for a two level shopping centre with an internal glazed street was lodged in October 2007 with Fingal County Council and permission was granted by An Bord Pleanála, following a third party appeal, on 17th October 2008.

The development is now open for business and is known as Millfield Shopping Centre, Balbriggan.
